FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • When you sponsor a child, you are entering into a supportive relationship that will help address the basic needs of an impoverished child. Your support signals that you care about the child’s well-being, and although you may be far away, that you have a heartfelt desire to ensure that his or her physical, emotional, spiritual, cognitive and economic needs are not neglected.
  • Our ‘sponsor a child’ program ideally lasts until a child turns 18. Although you can absolutely choose to opt out of your sponsorship agreement at any time, we hope that you will consider the importance of consistency in the life of a child who is especially vulnerable and that you will agree to serve as a steady beacon of hope.

(If your sponsored child’s circumstance changes – such as a family’s relocation – we will alert you as soon as possible and will offer you the opportunity to sponsor another needy child.)

  • Your donation  of just $39 per month or $468 per year, at the very minimum, helps pay for your sponsored child’s school fees, clothing, access to health care and nutrition.

Will I be the child’s only sponsor?

  • Yes – you will be the child’s sole sponsor. This is why your support, prayers and letters mean so much. A consistent, trusting relationship is key to a child’s development, and to have someone (other than family members express) their love and concern, is a sign that he or she is worthy and is capable of an exceptional future.
  • You may discontinue your sponsorship at any time. Simply call our toll-free number at (866) 876-8876
  • We will send you a packet that includes stationery, an envelope, and ideas about what you could include in an introductory letter. You may want to send a photograph as well! A staff member will translate the content of your letter and will make sure that it is safely delivered to the child you sponsor. The more often you write to your sponsored child, the more he or she will be able to use your love and support as a foundation for a better life.

The child you sponsor will have:

  • Access to education – Your donation helps pay for your sponsored child’s school fees, clothing, supplies, and/or tutoring. It may also pay for an opportunity to attend a literacy program.
  • Increased health – Your donation will help address the health needs of your sponsored child and, with our involvement, they will be taught basic hygiene so that they understand how to care of themselves.
  • Opportunities to develop self-confidence – Your child will be able to participate in programs where adults will provide caring personal attention so that they can develop a sense of self-worth on a local level.
  • Access to spiritual teachings – as a faith-based ministry, we introduce children to Christian principles. We do this with a very light touch and take care not to indoctrinate them into our faith.
  • Yes, we are a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code sponsorship gifts are tax-deductible in the United States in accordance with IRS regulations.  As a requirement of the 1993 Revenue Reconciliation Act, we verify that no goods or services of value are given to you for your contribution.

If you have other questions, please contact us via our support desk.  We hope that you understand the incredible impact that your sponsorship will make on a child. You will be a ray of hope in his or her life of unimaginable poverty and despair.
